for the moment in Tel Avi

But for the moment in Tel Aviv, our US Air Force Intelligence0fficer considered himself a “Voice of America” CBS radioEdward R. Murrow candidate.  Those yesterdays, broadcasting the Nazi blitzgriegs from the London rooftops, hailed the stance of a hero during the advent of World War2.
Hadn’t he be groomed for such a nonpareil role, notwithstanding at the corner of Allenby and Ben Yahudain Tele Aviv, but a crow’s eye from, Jaffa, the Mediterranean and sharing a breakfast with Ed Murrow and his children at the Dan Hotel
                                                                        II
Hadn’t he put in his stint at Midwood High School in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
As the Commissioner of Athletics, the sports editorr for the Epilog, editing up the om intra mural games for the Comets, Gremlins nd the Ocean Avenue East Midwood Jewish Center Wingate Field “scholars.
“Honest Bill “Rosenblatt, Shelly Fine, Lenny Singer (the captain)
Dede eye Wally Kaplan, Lustgaqrden, Howie Weissglass off the bench, Jerry Ringelheim,. Lefty Fisher. Marvin the “Commish
In  the groove perhaps, but to sit eye ball to eyeball with Raymond Gram Swing’s CBS auteur Edward R. Murrow at the Dan Hotel’s Tel Av iv   breakfast for timeless “Voice of America” role, seemed a Cro Magnon man impossibility .
An unbelievable Alley Oop reality!
Martin Block’s Make believe ballroom? Hey what?

But if it wasn’t for Julie Raskin , the Chairman of the Boy’s Athletic Department, forwarding his spirited letter to ULA near the end of our Senior Year, who knows. But his endorsement lent ourselves to the basketball universe of recruiting the legendary coach John Wooden of Indiana University.
His initials being the reverse of the former coach Wilber Johns…..John Wooden successor, Wilbur becoming the Athletic Director. ,while we joined the Daily Bruin as a sports writer….(WOR’s Stan Lomax for the Argus,  but no byline)
Coach Johns leaving ducats for us at Madison Square Garden’s Mid semester NIT where our blue eyes caught Dave Minor of Toledo University, playing with a plastic cast on his left arm….after transferring to UCFLA as WW2 neared its end.
Dave introducing us to the team’s center Don Barksdale. Drafted by the Boston Celtics. He owned a music store on South Western Avenue. The one time we called there….. a voice picked up the phone.
“Jackie Robinson here!”
